BJJ classes near Shirley
Shirley sends us more new faces than almost anywhere else in Southampton. From Shirley High Street, Upper Shirley or Regents Park, the drive across to our mats in Swaythling takes around fifteen minutes outside rush hour, up The Avenue and onto Thomas Lewis Way, which keeps a 7:30pm class realistic after work rather than a mission. Plenty of our current beginners commute in from SO15 and SO16 and train two or three evenings a week. There are other places to grapple around the west of the city, so here's what makes the trip worth it: a structured, beginner-first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy with a planned curriculum, a four-week course designed for people who have never trained anything before, a Sunday-evening open mat, and weekend training so the week never has to fit around the gym. Your first class is free, nobody will throw you in at the deep end, and you'll know exactly what to expect before you arrive.
